XYRON™ -3D

What is XYRON™ -3D FILAMENT?

Asahi Kasei offers XYRON™ -3D FILAMENT, made from XYRON™, a modified polyphenylene ether (PPE) resin product. 3D printer filament is a thread-like resin that is compatible with 3D printer methods called MEX, FDM, and FFF.
XYRON™ is a general term for polymer alloys that are a mixture of PPE resin and other resins, and has excellent flame resistance, heat resistance, electrical properties (insulation), dimensional stability, etc.

XYRON™ -3D FILAMENT : Outstanding Properties and Product Lineup

We would like to introduce the excellent characteristics and product lineup of filament products made from Asahi Kasei 's modified PPE resin "XYRON™".

Key Features

3D printer filament made from the modified PPE resin XYRON™ has the following main features:

  • Low density
  • Excellent dimensional stability
  • Excellent electrical properties and insulation
  • Excellent heat resistance
  • Excellent impact resistance

Due to these features, it is expected to provide performance comparable to that of super engineering plastic filaments.

Furthermore, taking advantage of its excellent electrical properties, it is expected that applications unique to XYRON™ will be expanded to include junction boxes for solar cells and 3D printing of electrical/electronic components.

Introducing XYRON™ -3D FILAMENT Products

01

PPE/PS (non-reinforced) series

The PPE/PS (non-reinforced ) series offers low density, dimensional stability, insulation, heat resistance and impact resistance. There are 2 grades available : XYRON™ -3D FILAMENT JX20H and JX50Z.
JX20H: Prints at lower temperatures (nozzle, bed, chamber) and can be used in more printers.
JX50Z: The base resin of the filament is made of a resin that has obtained the UL94 standard (V-0), flame retardance  standard.
Compared to other flame retardant  filaments, it has a low density and offers an excellent balance of heat resistance and impact strength.
Due to these features, it is expected to provide performance comparable to some  of super engineering plastics filaments.

PPE/PS (reinforced) series

The grade which called XYRON™ -3D FILAMENT JXG70 is PPE/PS (reinforced) grade.
It's formulated by PPE/PS (polystyrene)/GF reinforced resin and obtain the UL94 standard (V-1) for flame retardance as the base resin for the filament.
By combining PPE/PS resin with GF (glass fiber), it is possible to achieve strength and modulus, and it has a lower density, higher strength and higher modulus than PEI/CF reinforced resin.

PA/PPE Series-JXAS1

Compared to PA6 (polyamide 6) resin filament, XYRON™ -3D FILAMENT JXAS1 has lower  warpage, good impact strength, good flexural strength, good heat resistance and heat resistance, and exhibits little dimensional change when absorbing water.

PA/PPE Series-JXAG5

XYRON™-3D FILAMENT JXAG5 is a grade that has low warpage and low density, and has excellent strength and heat resistance compared to PA12 (polyamide 12)/GF (glass-fiber) reinforced resin filaments.
